Homecare FAQ's
|
 |
What is "private" homecare?
|
| |
Private homecare is care provided in a home that is not covered by programs
such as Medicare or other medical insurances. Private homecare is not only
affordable but allows the client to govern the type and amount of care they
receive.

 |
I am interested in hiring a companion for my mother, is an assessment of
needs really necessary?
|
| |
Absolutely not. Care is governed totally by the client and their family.
Assessments are available to those who need help determining what level of care
they need. If an assessment is not done at the onset of care, and it is determined
that a change in care is required, the client is immediately notified to discuss
the recommended changes.
|
 |
Are health care professionals available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
|
| |
Yes, care is available in blocks of time ranging from 2 – 24 hours and arrangements
for care can be made in a short period of time.
|
 |
How do I decide if my loved one needs a Certified Home Health Aide or a skilled nurse?
|
| |
Typically, a Certified Home Health Aide provides assistance with bathing, grooming,
dressing, meal preparation, feeding, medication assistance, walking and exercising,
shopping and running errands, light housekeeping, laundry, and companionship. They
also provide you some well-deserved relief at the same time. Hiring a licensed nurse
such as an RN or LPN is not necessary for custodial home care but rather only when
skilled nursing care is required, like medicine administration, injections and hospice
situations.
|
 |
My mother has doctor appointments several times a week, unfortunately I work
full-time and am not available to transport her to all her appointments.
Can Angel Homecare help me with this situation?
|
| |
Yes! Transportation is crucial to ensure access to essential services such as medical
care and grocery shopping. The availability of adequate transportation enables you or
your loved one to live independently within the community, helps to prevent isolation
and the possible need for long-term care placement.
|
 |
My loved one needs care 24-hours a day. What happens if the nurse needs time off?
|
| |
Angel Homecare guarantees that your loved one will be provided with care for the time
that has been scheduled. On rare occasions, your primary health care professional
may encounter a need for time off on one of the scheduled days. When that situation
arises, Angel Homecare will send an equally qualified replacement to cover the
shift/day.

 |
We have just taken a member of our family home who has a terminal illness. We are
not capable of providing the type of care he needs while at home.
Does Angel Homecare provide Hospice Care?
|
| |
Yes we do. We work to provide comprehensive services tailored to meet the individual
needs of each patient and their family members. Hospice focuses on quality of
life—peace, comfort, and dignity. Our primary goal is to control pain and other
symptoms so the patient can remain as comfortable as possible while offering family
members an opportunity to seek respite and time away from the situation.
|
 |
How are your health care professionals supervised and monitored?
|
| |
Our staff is closely supervised by a registered nurse/case manager, as well as
administrative staff who make sure clients continue to receive high-quality care.
Our caregivers and case managers work together to monitor progress or changes in
the clients health and lifestyle. Any change in the clients routine or health is
immediately reported to the family or physician so the proper steps can be taken.
Our ultimate goal is to keep the client as independent as possible for as long
as possible.
|
 |
Can I trust the caregivers?
|
| |
We understand it can be hard to let a stranger into your home or the home of a
loved one, particularly if that person is in some way impaired. That's why we
conduct criminal background checks on all staff. All employees are insured. In
addition, all employees sign confidentiality agreements that insure that your
illness or that of your loved one will always remain confidential.

 |
My father lives in an assisted living facility. Can Angel Homecare provide services in
these types of living arrangements?
|
| |
Angel Homecare provides services to people in a variety of living situations
including nursing homes, dementia units and long term care facilities. Not only
can services be provided to people living outside a “typical” home but we work
closely with the facility case manager to insure that the client is as independent
as possible.
|
 |
My sister is due to go in for surgery and is expected to remain in the hospital for a
few days. Is it possible to hire a private duty aide to assist her during her stay in the
hospital?
|
| |
Absolutely. Our Certified Nurse Assistants are available to assist our clients
even while they are in the hospital. Many people find that the individualized
attention and support they receive from our CNAs while in the hospital has been
beneficial in their recovery process. Our CNAs work in conjunction with the
hospital staff to provide a comfortable and quiet convalescence period.
|
 |
Can you provide references?
|
| |
We would be happy to furnish references upon request. We are proud of our many
affiliations and accreditations throughout the community. We work closely with
many organizations that provide services to our clientele and participate in
partnerships so that we may provide our clients with the most up-to-date
information to assist them in their decisions regarding homecare.
